PMI comparison in the region

*Vietnam’s Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) fell slightly to 54.9 in July from 55.7 in June. It was still among the highest levels in the survey’s history since March 2011 and far above that of other ASEAN countries, including the Philippines (50.9), Indonesia (50.5), Singapore (50.2), Thailand (50.1), Malaysia (49.7) and Myanmar (47.9). July’s PMI indicated that the manufacturing sector has expanded (with a PMI score above 50) for the past 32 months. Robust production was driven by strong growth of both output and new orders, especially export orders, which encouraged more job creation.
