Ho Chi Minh City-Jakarta flight to begin in December

Vietjet will start a new nonstop service connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the Indonesian capital of Jakarta in December, the Vietnamese low-cost carrier announced on Tuesday.

The opening of the new air service was announced on Tuesday in Jakarta, witnessed by high-ranking Vietnamese and Indonesian dignitaries, during the official visit of Vietnam’s Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong to Indonesia.

The new route will meet increasing demand for travel between the two countries and boost regional trading and integration, Vietjet said in a press release later the same day.

The three-hour Ho Chi Minh City-Jakarta flight will operate daily from December 20, 2017.

The flight departs from Ho Chi Minh City at 8:40 pm and arrives in Jakarta at 11:40 pm (local time). The return flight takes off at 1:40 am (local time) and lands at 4:40 am.

“Vietjet’s new route from Ho Chi Minh City to Jakarta will boost ties between these two economic, cultural and financial hubs, thus helping to boost regional trading and integration,” Vietjet’s vice president Dinh Viet Phuong remarked.
